so last night.

let me tell you about all the awesome things that are going on.
not.

so, about last night.  our electricity had been acting odd.  but i just thought it was a few power surges that we get once every few months.  i went to weather.com for a totally unrelated reason, and realized.. it might snow over night.  i thought "whatever".  this is texas after all!  plus, we already had an ice storm earlier in the week, and typically we get one ice storm a year, then it passes.

around 11pm, i was taking a shower.  my plan was to be in bed by 11:30pm.  asleep by 12:30pm.  so i could get up at 8:30am, to get ready for my doctors appointment (for the baby).

i'm in the shower.  just applied the shampoo.  then.. darkness.

pitch-f'ing-black.

great, we lost power.  so i had to shower 10x faster due to the fact the hot water heater wasnt going to heat up anymore water, so i better get done FAST before i use it all.  i freak out a little, because i was going to go to the lady doctor, and i needed to shave, bad.

marc comes in 2 minutes later with a candle.  so i have light, and tells me to hurry, that he doesnt want me to hurt myself in the dark.

i come out a few minutes later, and he had lit candles all over the house.  he looks outside, apparently just our side of the road had lost power, wtf?  we sit here.  bored.  i'm in a robe.  waiting.  i find my electricity bill, call in the outage.  marc seriously thought it was because we paid our bill late.  hahah, (1) i paid it on time (2) they wouldnt shut it off at 11pm on a tuesday night!

i realize.. there is no way i will be able to dry my hair till the freaking power comes on, and it totally threw off my whole plan.  so, i say screw it.. i comb my hair & proceed to go to bed.  then i hear voices outside my backdoor.

i look out in my backyard expecting someone to be out there (which would be scary since we have a private backyard).  turns out, they outage.. is being fixed in the electricity pole that is in my NEIGHBORS backyard.  & my neighbor was out there keeping the dude company.  TOTALLY ANNOYING.

so, needless to say, about 12:15.. power was back on.
i went to bed without drying my hair.

fast forward to 7:45am.

my cell phone starts ringing. and ringing. and ringing.
it's the b.
i'm like STOPCALLING.  and dont answer.  i just yell at the phone.

finally after three calls, i answer.
me: "hello."
her: "hey, have you looked outside?!"
me: "uh, i'm sleeping"
her: "get up. and look outside."
-i get up-
me: "oh. my. fucking. good. god. shit"
her: "yeah, and i dont know how i'm going to get to work"

i tell her to call my boss & let her know she is going to be late.

it snowed.  it freaking showed.  we got a good 1-2 inches.  IN TEXAS.
i turned on the news.  all schools? closed.  the roads? horrible.

at 9:30am, i start calling my obgyn to let them know i need to reschedule.  & pray they dont dock me this visit or make me pay (if you miss 2 appointments, they drop you as a patient.  if you reschedule, you have to pay, if you do it in under 24 hours).  the phone is busy.  i call again.  it hangs up on me.  call again "you have reached _____ obgyn. we are currently experiencing a high volume of calls.  please press 0 for an operator"  hit 0.  sit & wait.  the message comes up again.  i hit 0.  this goes on for 10 minutes, then it disconnects me.  i call back a few minutes later.  same deal.

i finally realize.. i will call the MAIN office!  turns out they were closed.  & it went to voicemail.  i felt better.
at this point, i fall back asleep since i didnt have work till 1pm.  at 10:30am, when i should of been at the doctor, the phone rings.  it was the obgyn office letting me know my appointment was cancelled due to weather, and they were SO sorry they werent able to reach me sooner, & felt bad that i tried calling them before they got to me.  that made me feel 100x better. and realize how NICE they were!!

i go to work at 1pm.  our district manager calls us, "close the store at 5pm"  SWEET!!  and i still get paid as if i closed :D 

marc calls me.. WE SOLD MY MUSTANG!!!  it's been sitting in my driveway since MAY, not working.  and someone is buying it for more than i thought we would get.  i'm SO happy.   so, we have $$ for baby stuffs!!

anyway, i'm now home & so happy.  today turned out to be great.
